The logo of the special edition of the Bangladesh Premier League T20, titled Bangabandhu BPL, was unveiled Saturday at a city hotel in Dhaka.
The players’ draft for the Bangabandhu BPL will be held Sunday at a city hotel in the capital, starting at 6pm.
Seven teams will feature in the tournament - Jamuna Bank Dhaka Platoon, Premier Bank Khulna Tigers, Rajshahi Royals, Rangpur Rangers, Sylhet Thunder, Cumilla Warriors and Chattogram Challengers – that will get underway on December 11 this year.
Prior to that, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the money-spinning competition on December 8.
The tournament has been named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to mark his 100th birthday.
Bangladesh Test and T20I captain Shakib al Hasan will not play this special BPL edition due to a two-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council, with one year of that suspended, for failing to report three corrupt approaches by a listed bookie.
