Virat Kohli is aware of the challenge that Bangladesh can pose and said the Indians are focused on playing good cricket

India captain Virat Kohli believes they have to play well against Bangladesh, terming them a skillful opponent and a team that will play on familiar subcontinent wickets.

India are favorite in the two-match Test series considering their recent form and records at home.

Recently, they whitewashed South Africa 3-0 and all the players in the Test team are in good form.

But Kohli is aware of the challenge that Bangladesh can pose and said the Indians are focused on playing good cricket.

“Bangladesh are used to playing in similar conditions so we definitely think that they will know their game plan and what they need to do. We'll have to play well to get a result, like we have in the past. We'll not take anyone lightly from Bangladesh. When they play well they can be a very skillful team and they have the ability to play some really good cricket. We'll have respect for them but more than that we'll have belief in our own team,” said Kohli during the pre-game press conference at Holkar Stadium Wednesday.

Only one Test has been played at Holkar Stadium so far and that was between host India and New Zealand back in 2016.

India had won that match by 321 runs with Kohli scoring a double hundred and Ajinkya Rahane making 188.

India have a 100% winning record at this ground as they have won all the matches - one Test, five ODIs and one T20I and Kohli said they need to play good cricket to produce a similar kind of result.

“No guarantee that we'll win. We'll have to play well to win the Test match here. We won't win if we just turn up. It won't be easy. We've always played good cricket in Indore, but wherever you play you need to work hard and respect the game. Believe in yourself. We have good memories in this team,” Kohli added.
