Bangladesh ended their campaign with 58 medals, including eight golds, 28 silvers and 22 bronzes

Bangladesh finished fourth in the medal standing as the fifth edition of the South Asian Karate Championship, organized by Bangladesh Karate Federation and South Asian Karate Federation, concluded Saturday at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.

Bangladesh ended their campaign with 58 medals, including eight golds, 28 silvers and 22 bronzes.

India reigned supreme, emerging as the champion with 53 medals, including 33 golds, nine silvers and 11 bronzes. 

Sri Lanka finished second with 54 medals, including 11 golds, 18 silvers and 25 bronzes, while Nepal ended third with 25 medals, including 10 golds, five silvers and 10 bronzes.

Bhutan emerged fifth with five medals, including one gold and four bronzes.

On the concluding day of the two-day tournament, Bangladesh bagged golds in the kumite event and the senior men’s singles kata event.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen was present as the chief guest during the presentation ceremony.

Around 245 players participated in 60 events across different categories – cadet, junior, U-21 and senior – in the tournament.
