Saif Sporting Club have appointed Maldivian Mohamed Nizam as the new head coach ahead of the upcoming football season 2019-20.

The contract was signed at the club office in Dhaka Thursday.

At the end of his 17-year playing and 10-year coaching career, Nizam guided TC Sports Club to the Maldives top-flight title last year.

He led the same club to the title of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup in 2017.

Nizam, who came to Bangladesh last month as the head coach of Maldives U-16 team for the Uefa Assist Development Tournament, was adjudged Maldives’ best coach of the year in 2017 and 2018.

Saif Sporting, who finished fourth in the Bangladesh Premier League last season, signed four foreign players out of the permitted five.

They kept Colombian forward Deiner Cordoba from last season while bringing in new faces Rwanda defender Emery Bayisenge, Sierra Leone midfielder Fayia Kobba and Tajikistan striker Jahongir Ergashev.
