Former Bangladesh Cricket Board president and current member of parliament, Saber Hossain Chowdhury Wednesday morning gave his take on the Shakib al Hasan issue that is currently the talk of the country.

Saber shared his opinions on social media after Shakib was banned by the International Cricket Council for two years Tuesday for not reporting multiple corrupt approaches by a listed bookie, with one year of that suspended.

Saber wrote on twitter, “Punishment must fit the crime - @BCBtigers should at least have attempted to reduce duration of ban. Sad that #Bangladesh Cricket Board has not stood by @Sah75official in this regard and are now shedding crocodile tears!”

The former BCB chief later tweeted two more posts in which he said, “Hypocrisy, double standards at its best/worst – “BCB respects ICC’s decision.., shares similar sentiments against corruption in cricket.” Rather than rooting out #corruption institutionalised #matchfixing,   @BCBtigers actually promotes it in domestic cricket. Shame!

“I think @BCBtigers was fully in the know and Mr Papon is not being truthful when he says he didn’t have a clue, am sad and sorry to say. From attached video clip of 22nd Oct, looks like Mr Papon was IMPATIENTLY waiting for the @ICC announcement...”
