Opener Mehedi was dismissed for 72 before Naeem got out for 54, but Ariful Haque and Nasir Hossain, who replaced Rishad Hossain for Khulna, played two good innings to ensure a first-innings lead.
Ariful was dismissed for 47 when the score was 233 but Nasir, who was supposed to serve one-match ban, remained not out on 55.
The replacement of Rishad, who got five wickets for in the first innings of Rajshahi, potentially helped the Rangpur side as they could get the service of a good bowler and a good batsman when required.
Meanwhile, no play was possible in the tier two as the matches between Barisal and Dhaka Metropolis and Chittagong and Sylhet at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra and Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi respectively.
