Big guns fail to score big in practice match

These two teams will play another practice match Monday at the same venue

National team players played their first practice match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Sunday as prominent batsmen failed to score big in the evening game.

Players who got selected for the T20Is against India and several others were divided into two teams, BCB Red and BCB Green.

Batting first, BCB Green posted 143 runs on the board losing nine wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. 

Yasir Ali Chowdhury was the top-scorer for the Green team with 39 while Imrul Kayes and Naim Sheikh scored 32 and 29 respectively.

Abu Haider and Aminul Biplob took three wickets each.

In reply, BCB Red managed to score only 93 with only Liton Kumar Das scoring some notable runs with 36 off 35 deliveries.

Other batsmen failed to score big as Soumya Sarkar got run out without even facing a delivery, Afif Hossain made eight, Mushfiqur Rahim scored four, Mahmudullah made seven and Mosaddek Hossain scored one.

The significant aspect in the practice game was the absence of Test and T20I captain Shakib al Hasan. 

According to team source, it was learnt that Shakib took leave from the practice match and his request was granted by the team management.

These two teams will play another practice match Monday at the same venue.

Bangladesh will fly off to India Wednesday to play three T20Is and two Test matches in November.
