Four national records on final day

BKSP took home the medal honors with 20 golds, eight silvers and five bronzes, a total of 33.

Four new records were created on the second and final day of the 35th National Junior Athletics Championship at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Saturday.

In the U-19 girls’ discus throw, BKSP’s Sharmin Akter threw posted a score of 28.95m to bag the gold medal, and in the process, break the previous best national record.

In the same event for the U-19 boys, Rajshahi Education Board’s Enamul Haque cleared 35.6m to claim gold and create a new national record.

In the U-19 girls’ long jump, BKSP’s Jannatul notched the gold and a new national record after leaping to a distance of 5.42m.

In the U-17 girls’ 100m sprint, BKSP’s Sumaiya Dewan won gold, and in the process a new national record after clocking 12.22s.

The previous record belonged to none other than Shirin Akter, currently one of the country’s premier sprinters. 

BKSP took home the medal honors with 20 golds, eight silvers and five bronzes, a total of 33.

Noakhali finished a distant second in the standing with 12 medals – three golds, four silvers and five bronzes.
