Tamim Iqbal might miss the latter part of the India series owing to personal reasons
Left-handed batsman Imrul Kayes joined the national team squad for the T20I series against India, and trained Friday as a potential back-up for another left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal.
Tamim might miss the latter part of the India series owing to personal reasons.
The 30-year old is also nursing an injury as he did not play in the second round of the National Cricket League last week.
Tamim took a break after the three-match ODI series away to Sri Lanka where Bangladesh were whitewashed 3-0.
The opening batsman did not take part in the tri-nation T20I series at home in September against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

He then returned to the field and played in the first round of the NCL for Chittagong against Dhaka Metropolis, scoring 20 and 46 in two innings.
In case Tamim is unavailable for the India T20Is, Kayes is being considered as his alternative.
According to a team source, Tamim’s availability for the India series will be confirmed within the next two days.
Tamim was present in the first day of practice Friday but did not take part in training, while Imrul batted in the nets along with the T20I squad beside the indoor practice facilities.
