Whether it was for the weakness of the opponent or the four changes Spanish head coach Jose Vicuna made to the playing XI that lost 2-1 to Young Elephants in the first game, Bagan looked far more comfortable controlling the game and creating some chances

Traditional Kolkata outfit Mohun Bagan Athletic Club appeared as a completely different side in their second match of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup beating holder TC Sports Club of Maldives comfortably 2-0 at MA Aziz Stadium in the port city Wednesday.

Bagan took to the driving seat quite early in the game when experienced Trinidad and Tobago defender Daneil Cyrus broke the deadlock with only three minutes into the clock, placing home a cutback by Spanish forward Julen Colinas.

Whether it was for the weakness of the opponent or the four changes Spanish head coach Jose Vicuna made to the playing XI that lost 2-1 to Young Elephants in the first game, Bagan looked far more comfortable controlling the game and creating some chances.

Few minutes after Salvador Perez saw one of his efforts denied by the woodwork, the Spanish forward found the back of the net in the 64th minute with a turn-around grounder from inside the box following a short pass by compatriot Colinas.

Vicuna was still not the happiest man in the post-match press conference for missing a number of chances that would have improve the goal difference which could prove to be vital in determining the top two finishers from the groups ahead of the semi-finals.

The 2017 winner TC Sports, on the other hand, must beat host Chittagong Abahani Limited in their last group match Friday to avoid an early exit from the tournament.
