Rangpur's Liton Das raises his bat after his century against Dhaka during day three of their NCL match in Chittagong Saturday BCB

Both the overnight batsmen Liton Das and Naeem Islam reached three-figures and thanks to their centuries Rangpur finished the day on 334/5 in reply to Dhaka’s huge 556/8 (declared) that was orchestrated by double centurion Saif Hasan

The third and penultimate day of the National Cricket League saw centuries from batsmen as well as a few four-fors from bowlers as the last day of the matches in four different venues are expected to end in thrilling finishes.

Liton Das and the experienced Naeem Islam scored centuries for Rangpur against Dhaka in their high-scoring match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Saturday while Al Amin Hossain and experienced campaigner Abdur Razzak got four-fors for Khulna against Rajshahi.

Both the overnight batsmen Liton and Naeem reached three-figures and thanks to their centuries Rangpur finished the day on 334/5 in reply to Dhaka’s huge 556/8 (declared) that was orchestrated by double centurion Saif Hasan.

Rangpur started on 71/2 with Liton on 51 and Naeem on eight and Dhaka bowlers were expecting to wrap the innings to give their side a good chance in the game.

But the pair extended their partnership to 154 before Liton was dismissed for 122 when the score was 198.

Captain Nasir Hossain got out for one and next batsman Ariful Haque got back to the pavilion with a lowly 17 but Naeem got a good partner in Tanbir Hayder, who remained not out on 52, as the pair added 96 before stumps.

Naeem, one of the most successful batsmen in the domestic arena, remained not out on 124 in his typically patient knock where he faced 296 balls.
