Like the seniors, the junior Bangladesh football team put up a brave display against their Qatar counterparts during their tri-nation U-19 tournament match in Doha Saturday evening.

However, much like the senior side, the youngsters in red and green also conceded a 2-0 loss, despite a rearguard display.

Bangladesh got a number of goal-scoring opportunities but a lack of composure in the final third meant the visiting side had to be content with a loss as Qatar netted one each in either half.

Bangladesh head coach Andrew Peter Turner praised his charges’ display which he thinks will stand them in good stead for the AFC U-19 Championship.

The English coach though rued the missed opportunities and said they should have availed their chances.

They will take on Kuwait U-19 in their second and final group stage match at the same venue Monday.
