Viqarunnisa, Sunnydale seal School Handball

Irfan Zayed of the champion Sunnydale was adjudged the best player in boys’ group while Fahmida Halim Lamia of Viqarunnisa was named the best player among the girls.

Viqarunnisa Noon School and College clinched the girls’ title for a record 18th time beating Sunnydale School 9-4 in the final of the Polar Ice Cream 26th School Handball Tournament at Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium Wednesday.

The winner led 5-1 after the first half.

Ayesha contributed four goals for the champion while Samaha netted three for the losing side.

Sunnydale however, clinched the boys’ title for the third time in a row, defeating Residential Model School and College 28-19 in the final after leading the first half 24-6 at the same venue Wednesday

Irfan Zayed scored eight for the winner while Irfan Hossain bagged half a dozen for the loser.

Later, Irfan of the champion Sunnydale was adjudged the best player in boys’ group while Fahmida Halim Lamia of Viqarunnisa was named the best player among the girls.

Saint Gregory’s High School finished third in the boys’ group after beating Shaheed Police Smriti College 21-14 while Kadamtola East Bashabo School and College clinched third spot defeating Scholastica (Uttara) 9-6 yesterday.
