Obaidul Karim was the president of the club before the latest High Court order
Supreme Court Bar Association president AM Aminuddin has been given the responsibility to act as the interim president of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and preside the long-awaited Annual General Meeting and election, informed the club’s director-in-charge Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan Wednesday.
“According to an appeal put on two and a half years ago in order to hold the AGM and election of the club, the high court on August 28 gave an order to appoint a neutral person in SCBA president AM Aminuddin as the interim president of the club. The full order was published two days ago but we haven’t got the copy of the full order yet,” said Lokman Wednesday.
Aminuddin, who was elected as SCBA president in March this year, informed that he also has not received the copy of the High Court order yet.
The senior advocate said, “I heard that it’s been a long time that there is no AGM in Mohammedan. That is why the High Court has given the responsibility to a neutral person to preside the AGM. I can tell more about this as soon as I get the copy in hand.”
The term of the current Mohammedan’s board of directors expired in 2013 and since then there was no election held in the club.
Another effort was taken back in 2015 but in no vain.
