The experienced all-rounder heaped praise on Aminul Islam Biplob and informed that the team are happy with his impressive debut
Bangladesh middle-order batsman Mahmudullah praised young leg spinner Aminul Islam Biplob, who bowled well in his debut match taking two wickets, and expressed hope that the Tigers would be able to take forward the momentum in the tri-nation T20I series after their 39-run win against Zimbabwe.
Mahmudullah formed an important partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim after Bangladesh lost three wickets following an aggressive start.
Mahmudullah scored 62 off 41 deliveries at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and was adjudged man of the match.
The experienced all-rounder heaped praise on Biplob and informed that the team are happy with his impressive debut.
Biplob conceded 18 runs for his two wickets in his quota of four overs.

“I personally wanted Biplob to shine. I did not see him earlier in a match. But during practice, I felt that he has an x factor in his spin bowling. I am really happy how he bowled. He is a good fielder and also bats well. So if he can perform well then he can be a good prospect for Bangladesh cricket,” said Mahmudullah during the post-match press conference Wednesday.
“He was bowling aggressively which is positive and effective in T20 cricket. Probably he was a bit nervous as, in the first match in international cricket everyone gets nervous. During the match I just told him to bowl with brave attitude and he bowled exceptionally well. I am really happy he performed well, hopefully he will perform well for the team in near future,” he added.
Mahmudullah formed a 78-run partnership in the middle period and it looked like Bangladesh were closing in on 200 at one stage.
But Zimbabwe bowlers fought back with late wickets and Bangladesh innings ended on 175.
“The wicket was very good. I think it was a 190+ wicket. Liton [Das] and [Nazmul Hossain] Shanto gave us a good start. Mushfiq batted well and built a good partnership with me. But we should have scored more, and we discussed in the break that perhaps we are 10-15 runs short. But later, our bowlers bowled really well and took wickets early which created pressure on the opposition. In the end it was a good performance overall,” he concluded.
