U19s to face Afghans in U-19 Asia Cup semi

India and Sri Lanka will contest the other semi on the same day in Colombo

Bangladesh U-19 cricket team maintained their 100% winning record in the U-19 Asia Cup after beating Sri Lanka U-19 by 42 runs and finished the group stage campaign as Group B champion.

They will now face Afghanistan U-19 in the semi-final Thursday in Moratuwa.

India and Sri Lanka will contest the other semi on the same day in Colombo.

Riding on Mahmudul Hasan’s century, the junior Tigers posted 273 on the board from their stipulated 50 overs after batting first at Tyrone Fernando Stadium.

Reeling on 56 for the loss of two wickets, the visiting side were rescued by a 121-run third-wicket stand between Mahmudul and Towhid Hridoy.

Hridoy departed after making a 75-ball 50 but Mahmudul carried on till the end, going on to score 126 off 140 deliveries, featuring a dozen fours and a couple of sixes.

Dilshan Madushanka bagged three wickets for the home side.

In reply, the Lankans were all out for 231 in 47.4 overs with Rohan Sanjaya top-scoring with 42.

Rakibul Hasan took three wickets for Bangladesh U-19 while Shariful Islam and Ashraful Islam notched two each.
