Team BJMC and NoFeL Sporting Club have been relegated from this year’s top flight and Bangladesh Police and Uttar Baridhara club, who were champion and runners-up respectively in the Championship League, the second tier-tournament, will replace them in next season’s premier league

The executive committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation Saturday approved the professional league committee’s proposal of allowing each participating club to register five foreign players in the next professional football season, instead of four from the previous season.

“Each participating club in the Bangladesh Premier League 2019-20 can sign five foreign players but not all of them can be included in the 18-man final players’ list as highest four can only play for each team during the match-days, including one Asian player,” said BFF’s senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy after an impromptu meeting Saturday.

Some premier league clubs earlier requested the BFF to make an even number of participating clubs in the upcoming league, but the executive committee denied the appeal.

“The committee thinks it will go according to the by-laws as there will be 13 clubs in the next league. Two bottom-placed teams from last season will be relegated and top two finishers from Championship League will get promoted. We may consider even number of participating clubs from 2020-21 season,” said Salam, who also happens to be the chairman of the professional league committee.
