The 29-year old ended with three scalps giving away 62 runs in nine overs

Right-arm pacer Shafiul Islam had come as the last minute inclusion.

A 14-member Bangladesh team had travelled to Colombo and the team management thought of bringing the out-of-favor Shafiul to the national fold based on practical facts.

Having played his last ODI for the Tigers in 2016, Shafiul made his mark on his return in just his second over, removing Avishka Fernando for seven.

He finished his first spell of three overs conceding 16 runs and taking a wicket.

The 29-year old went on to take two more lower-order wickets and ended with three scalps giving away 62 runs in nine overs.

Considering how Sri Lanka batsmen had started, Shafiul put in a decent effort on his return having attended just one practice session with the team ahead of the game.
