Afghanistan A cricket team thumped Bangladesh A by 10 wickets in the first of five unofficial ODIs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium in Chittagong Friday.

Chasing a below-par target of 202, the Afghan second string side romped home in 43.5 overs with openers Rahmatullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran remaining unbeaten on 105 and 86 respectively.

Gurbaz (11 fours, three sixes) and Zadran (eight fours, two sixes) faced 138 and 125 balls respectively and hammered the Bangladesh A bowlers all across the port-city venue.

Bangladesh A bowling attack, featuring national cricketers Rubel Hossain, Abu Jayed and Nazmul Islam, among others were dispatched with ease as Afghanistan A continued their good tour of Bangladesh so far, having also clinched the two-unofficial Test match series 1-0.

Earlier, the home side posted a moderate 201 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 50 overs, youngster Afif Hossain making 59 off 71 deliveries.

Veteran all-rounder Farhad Reza’s 30 was the next best score for Bangladesh A as the second string Tigers cricketers struggled in the face of some disciplined bowling by Afghanistan A.

Openers Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque made 28 and 19 respectively, while national stars Mohammad Mithun and Sabbir Rahman disappointed with three and 15 accordingly.

The visiting side’s Naveen-ul-Haq and Karim Janat bagged two wickets apiece.

The second one-dayer will be played at the same venue Sunday.
