The BCB XI trail Dr. DY Patil Cricket Academy by 70 runs after the second day of their four-day match in the Dr. Capt. K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru Wednesday.

The BCB XI posted 261 losing five wickets in 73 overs in their first innings, trailing DYPCA, who were all out for 331 in 102.5 overs.

The BCB XI openers Jahurul Islam and Shadman Islam scored 49 each, and put on 93 for the opening wicket.

After their departure, No 3 batsman Mominul Haque (18) also departed cheaply.

Youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto (34) and wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan (67 not out) then added 66 for the fourth wicket before Ariful Haque (14) made his way to the pavilion.

The visiting side then stitched together an unbroken 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket as Nurul and youngster Saif Hasan (27) remained unbeaten.

Earlier, DYPCA, resuming on their overnight score of 300/8, added 31 before losing their remaining two wickets.

No 3 batsman Ashay Sardesai top-scored with 128 for his side.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who was rewarded for his eight-for in their first match on their tour of India with a place in the national side’s ODI squad for their tour of Sri Lanka later this month, bagged six wickets conceding 144 runs.
