Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bagged eight wickets conceding 89 runs in 27.4 overs, including five maidens

The BCB XI Friday took a 189-run lead against Vidarbha Cricket Association heading into the fourth and final day’s play Saturday in the Dr. (Capt.) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament at Alur 2 Golden Oval in India.

The visiting side ended the third and penultimate day’s play on 42 for the loss of opener Jahurul Islam’s (25) wicket in 19 overs in their second innings.

The other opening batsman Saif Hasan and first innings centurion Mominul Haque were unbeaten on 15 and one respectively.

Earlier, VCA were all out for 353 in 94.4 overs in their first innings, thus giving BCB XI a 147-run lead.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bagged eight wickets conceding 89 runs in 27.4 overs, including five maidens, while seamers Ariful Haque and Taskin Ahmed notched one apiece.

VCA’s No 3 batsman Atharva Deshpande top-scored for his side with 91 while opener Akshay Kolhar chipped in with 62.

The BCB XI in their first innings had put on a mammoth 500 losing seven wickets before declaring after 148 overs.

Mominul led the way with 169 off 243 deliveries, featuring as many as 22 boundaries and an over boundary, while youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto made a patient 219-ball 118.

Ariful and Jahurul made 77 and 96 respectively.

VCA’s Darshan Nalkande took four wickets.
