A total of 12 teams from nine countries are participating in the event
The KN-Harbor Consortium Limited Asian Cities Chess Team Championship (Dubai Cup) 2019, organized by Bangladesh Chess Federation, and co-sponsored by Saif Powertec Ltd, Rupayan Group, Abul Khair Group, Standard Bank Ltd and Mercantile Bank Ltd began Wednesday at the hall-room, Fars Hotel and Resort in Dhaka.
Benazir Ahmed bpm (Bar), president of BCF and director general of Rab Forces, inaugurated the event as the chief guest.
Berik Balgabaev, adviser of Fide, World Chess Federation president and Rezaul Haq Chowdhury Mushtaq, chairman of KN-Harbour Consortium Ltd were present as special guests.
Lt. Col. Emranul Hasan, commanding officer Rab-3 and chairman, tournament committee presided over the ceremony.

KM Shahidullah, vice president of BCF, Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim, general secretary and Fide zone-3.2 president, IO Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, director Saif Sporting Club and International Master Mohammad Haroon-or-Rashid, chief arbiter of the event, gave speeches.
Both joint-secretaries of BCF Moniruzzaman Polash and Masudur Rahman Mallick Dipu, Debashi Dey, executive member of BCF were present in the inauguration ceremony.

In the first round games, Tehran (Saipa) of Iran beat Shah Alam City of Malaysia by 4-0 game points, Gopalganj City beat Chinese Taipei 3.5-1.5, BNSCB Team Dhaka beat Team of Dubai of UAE 4-0, Chittagong City beat Kathmandu City, Nepal 2.5-1.5, Kolkata City, India beat Colombo City, Sri Lanka 3-1 and Lalitpur Ciy of Nepal beat Pakpattan City of Pakistan 3-1.
