Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited registered a record 10 defeats in the Bangladesh Premier League after they conceded a narrow 2-1 loss against Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday.
The record was however, broken last month when they lost to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in their 16th league match and Wednesday's defeat only expanded it.
They earlier suffered eight defeats, that too for three times, during the 2010-11, 2016 and 2017-18 season.
The latest defeat kept the Black and Whites at ninth position in the 13-team points table with only 17 points from 19 matches while Sheikh Jamal moved to sixth with 24 points from 20 games, leapfrogging Chittagong Abahani Limited, who played out a 1-1 draw against Saif Sporting Club at the same venue Wednesday.
Sheikh Jamal dominated the opening half where they scored both their goals.
Gambian forward Solomon King took the lead within a minute into the clock, placing home from the left side of the box after receiving a short pass from Shakhawat Hossain Rony.

Another Gambian, forward Ebou Kanteh doubled the lead at the half-hour mark slotting home past Mohammedan goalkeeper Pappu Hossain after breaking into the left side of the box.
Mohammedan came back stronger in the second half with a better fight.
Malian forward Souleymane Diabate pulled one back in the 54th minute smashing home on the rebound into an empty net after Jahid Hasan Ameli’s header on a free-kick was blocked by the custodian.
Souleymane went close twice in the 58th and 63rd minute, but Sheikh Jamal keeper Mohammad Nayeem made a diving save on the first attempt before Souleymane missed in an one-on-one situation with the netminder due to a poor final touch.
Sheikh Jamal was also denied by the post twice when Solomon hit the woodwork from a free-kick in the 78th minute and Didarul Alam struck the sidepost from outside the box in the 88th minute.
