Top national archer Mohammad Ruman Shana will fly to Japan late Tuesday night to take part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics test events titled “Ready Steady Tokyo” after the 24-year old became the second ever Bangladeshi to qualify directly for the Olympics last month.

The elimination round for the test events will start from Friday at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field, which is the same venue where the final archery events of next year’s Olympics are scheduled to take place.

Ruman is scheduled to return home on July 20 after the end of the seven-day test event.

“The Olympic test event is a possibility for the players to prepare for the Games next year, in the same competition facilities, same schedule and same climate conditions. It is also a world ranking event. There will again be a meeting of the top players of the world, so the target is to keep contact with the top and fight for the quarter-final,” said archery’s German head coach Martin Frederick Tuesday.

Ruman, who only landed in Dhaka Tuesday morning after participating in the World Cup Stage 4 in Berlin, talked to Dhaka Tribune before he left the country again.

“Gaining experience from playing at the same venue and weather condition will be the main thing I’m looking forward to. The target will also be to perform well and improve my regular score,” said Ruman.
