In this edition of the World Cup, Mashrafe bin Mortaza’s performance as a bowler was below average as he managed to take only one wicket
Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza remained wicketless in his last World Cup game, with his streak continuing for five games in a row.
This is the last World Cup for Mashrafe as he has already retired from the T20I format.
In that sense, it was Mashrafe’s last match in the World Cup event as well.
Mashrafe has participated in four World Cups for Bangladesh - the first time in 2003, then in 2007, 2015 and now in 2019.
In the last two, he served as the captain of the team.
@ImamUlHaq12 flicked the delivery towards deep square leg and while playing the shot, his back foot touched the stumps and the bails were dislodged.https://t.co/1V15CN2KSJ#PAKISTAN #BANGLADESH #BANGLADESHCRICKET #CRICKET #PAKISTANCRICKET #IMAMULHAQ #IMAM #CRICKETWORLDCUP #WORLD

But in this edition of the World Cup, Mashrafe’s performance as a bowler was below average as he managed to take only one wicket in the first seven matches.
Mashrafe bowled well in a few of these innings but luck was not in his favor.
Overall, his bowling was not upto the mark as he was also struggling with his long-term hamstring injury.
There were high expectations off him when he bowled against Pakistan at Lord’s.
The pitch offered some bounce for the pacers but Mashrafe failed to take any wicket.
@BCBtigers head coach Steve Rhodes informed that veteran skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza’s decision on his retirement will be decided by Mashrafe himself and the BCB.https://t.co/HbELkbXpYd#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESH #CRICKET #BANGLADESHCRICKET #STEVERHODES #RHODES #STEVE

However, Mashrafe was slightly better in terms of economy in comparison to the other two pacers.
Mashrafe conceded just two boundaries while Saifuddin gave away 10 and Mustafizur Rahman leaked 12.
But Saifuddin took three wickets and Mustafizur bagged five while Mashrafe remained wicketless and it really sums up the entire tournament for the Bangladesh captain.
On the other hand, the fielding of Bangladesh players all throughout the tournament was average.
In some matches it was acceptable, but then for the most parts, it was below-par.
@BCBtigers head coach Steve Rhodes believes the Tigers will have had a good campaign if they can beat @TheRealPCB at @HomeOfCricket’s in London Friday.https://t.co/CJjObekrAT#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESH #CRICKET #BANGLADESHCRICKET #STEVERHODES #RHODES #STEVE #PAKISTAN

But against Pakistan, Bangladesh fielders produced their worst performance as a fielding unit.
Bangladesh were sloppy from the beginning, which provided an extra edge to Pakistan.
It was dropped catches; poor ground fielding, lack of energy and pace in the fielding, etc, which was eye-catching in a negative way.
Pakistan scored 315 losing nine wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.
It could have been 30-40 runs less if Bangladesh fielded pertaining to their normal standards, which they have set over the years.
