Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar reacts after being dismissed during their World Cup match against Pakistan in London Friday Dhaka Tribune/Md Manik from London

Yet another promising start went in vain for Soumya Sarkar, which has become all too familiar for him in the 2019 World Cup

A lot was riding on Soumya Sarkar after his explosive start for the Tigers in the World Cup as the left-hander was in good form prior to the tournament.

He scored three half-centuries in the tri-nation ODI series just before the mega tournament.

However, he managed to score 42, 25, 2, 29, 10, 3, 33, 8 and 32 in his last seven innings in the World Cup.

He batted at a good strike rate but failed to convert them into bigger scores.

And against Pakistan, the same thing happened.

Soumya started confidently, struck a few boundaries and lost his wicket after getting set.

The opener scored a run-a-ball 22 with four boundaries and got out in the sixth over.

It was a relative short delivery from Mohammad Amir outside off-stump and Soumya went for a cut.

He managed to middle it but the ball went to the point region where Fakhar Zaman took a sharp catch.

Yet another promising start went in vain for Soumya, which has become all too familiar for him in the 2019 World Cup.
