Brazilian striker Alessandro Celin netted a brace as Saif Sporting Club strolled to a comfortable 2-0 victory over relegation-battled Brothers Union in the Bangladesh Premier League at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh Monday afternoon.
Despite the win, Saif Sporting remained at fourth in the table but reduced the gap with Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra to three points with 33 points from 16 matches.
Brothers remained at the 12th position of the 13-team standing with nine points from the same number of matches.
After a goalless opening half, Celin, who was signed during the mid-transfer window, gave his side the breakthrough in the 50th minute, heading home a cross of Otabek Zokirov from the right flank.
Celin doubled the lead in injury time after Brothers goalkeeper Biplob Bhattacharjee failed to grip Foysal Ahmed Fahim’s initial shot, and the Brazilian calmly sent the rebound home to seal victory.
