Some of the Bangladeshi archers qualified for the next round as they took part in compound and elimination round of the individual and team events

The second day of the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament 2019, stage-1 under the “Teer Go for Gold” project of Bangladesh Archery Federation was held Wednesday.

Some of the Bangladeshi archers qualified for the next round as they took part in compound and elimination round of the individual and team events.

Susmita Banik scored 685 out of 720 to finish sixth in the compound event of the female individual section. 

Banya Akter was 22nd with 674, and Shamoly Roy ended 24th with 670 points. 

A total of 43 archers took part in the event. 

In the men’s section of the same event, Ashim Kumar Das scored 691 to be 13th, while Sheikh Sojib posted 686 and Abul Kashem registered 685 to finish 22nd and 24th respectively. 

Ashim got a bye in the 1/24 round of the individual section of the elimination round to qualify for the 1/16 round. 

Abul Kashem Mamun beat Sri Lanka’s Rajapaksa Samantha 139-131, while Sajib beat Myanmar’s Ye Thwin 142-132.

Susmita also got a bye in the compound event of the elimination round. 

Banya won 142-102 against Laos’s Bouasengphachanh Kongkham, while Shamoly lost to Thailand’s Pratumsuwan Kodchaporn 136-133.

At the compound team event, Bangladesh men’s side scored 2062 to rank fifth, and got a bye in the 1/8 round to qualify for the quarter-final. 

Bangladesh team scored 2029 to rank fifth, and got a bye in the 1/8 round to qualify for the quarter-final in the women’s event.  

The mixed team of Susmita and Ashim also finished fifth in the qualification round.
