Dhaka are low on confidence after losing four consecutive matches, and currently find themselves fifth with 10 points from as many games
Dhaka Dynamites will lock horns with Comilla Victorians in a crucial BPL tie at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital Friday at 2pm.
Dhaka are low on confidence after losing four consecutive matches, and currently find themselves fifth with 10 points from as many games.
In order to qualify for the playoffs, the Dynamites need to win at least one of their two remaining matches.
Chief among Dhaka’s worries heading into the important phase of the competition will be their opening stand.
Their Afghan recruit Hazratullah Zazai was off to a flying start, blasting two fifties in a row, but has failed to fire in the remaining games with four single-digit scores and a 17 against Rangpur Riders at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Monday.
His opening partner, the West Indies’ Sunil Narine, has fared little better, his 38 in the BPL opener against Rajshahi Kings still his highest score in this edition.
The Victorians on the other hand are already assured of a playoff berth.
Comilla however, have two games left in the round-robin stage, and would want to finish in the top two, which would give them a second chance in the first qualifier in the playoffs if they were to concede defeat.
They are now second with 14 points from 10 matches.
Meanwhile in the other game of the day at the same venue, Chittagong Vikings will take on Sylhet Sixers at 7pm.
Chittagong are third with 14 points from 11 games, and like the Victorians, will target a top two finish.
In contrast, Sylhet are second from bottom with eight points from 11 matches.
Out of the running for a playoff berth, the Sixers will look to end their disappointing campaign on a winning note.
