Bangladesh Army players and officials celebrate finishing first in the National Athletics in Dhaka Saturday

Bangladesh Navy ended second with 45 medals, including 15 golds, 21 silvers and nine bronzes, while Bangladesh Jail finished third with seven medals, including two golds, one silver and four bronzes

Bangladesh Army reigned supreme in the 42nd National Athletics Championship, finishing first with 46 medals, including 16 golds, 13 silvers and 17 bronzes.

Bangladesh Navy ended second with 45 medals, including 15 golds, 21 silvers and nine bronzes, while Bangladesh Jail finished third with seven medals, including two golds, one silver and four bronzes.

On the third and final day of the competition Saturday, Rahimuddin clinched gold in the 20km walk, Sohel Rana claimed gold in triple jump, Mamun Sikder bagged gold in discus throw, Al Amin won gold in the 10,000m, Kamrul Hasan notched gold in 800m while Army’s Taleb, Minhaz, Sabuj and Masud bagged gold in the 4x100m relay.

Meanwhile, Navy’s Saiful Islam clinched gold in pole vault, while his teammate Ibad Ali claimed gold in the 400m hurdles.

In the women’s events, Army’s Sumi Akter won gold in the 800m, Jakia Akter notched gold in discus throw while Navy’s Shirin Akter, Sohagi Akter, Sabiha al Soha and Tamanna Akter claimed gold in the 4x100m relay.
