Both games in round five of the Bangladesh Cricket League ended in draws with the first day of both matches totally washed out by rain. 

The result means Walton Central Zone keep their spot in the top of the points table with Prime Bank South Zone, Islami Bank East Zone and BCB North Zone following.

North Zone v Central Zone

Central Zone started the day in a dominant position on 149/1 with a first-innings lead against North Zone with Saif Hasan and Abdul Mazid batting on 66 and seven runs respectively at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. 

They took the innings to 167 before Saif departed scoring 75. 

That would be the top-score in the innings.

Mazid completed his fifty before he was dismissed for 54 with the score at 229/3.  

But from there, wickets started to tumble due to the North Zone spinners Sanjamul Islam and Saqlain Sajib, who took 6/103 and 3/75 respectively and Central were bundled out for 294.

Having taken a 148-run lead, it was down to the Central Zone bowlers to try and get a result with time running out. 

They got their first breakthrough in the eighth over when Arafat Sunny had Mizanur Rahman bowled for 16 and with the score on 32/1. 

Opener Junaid Siddique and Farhad Hossain then formed a partnership to take the score to 97 before Junaid was dismissed for 47. 

From there another wicket fell as Naeem Islam was dismissed for 10 off the bowling of Nazmul Hossain Shanto with the score on 108/3. 

The game lasted seven more deliveries before both teams called it a day with North Zone’s score at 113/3 after 30 overs and the match ended in a draw.
