The team are scheduled to leave Dhaka for Moscow Sunday night
Bangladesh gymnastics team are all set for their first ever Europe and Russia tour when two junior gymnasts participate in the 25th Mikhail Voronin Cup, an international artistic gymnastics tournament, scheduled to be held in Moscow Wednesday and Thursday. The team are scheduled to leave Dhaka for Moscow Sunday night.
Mohammad Shafiqul Alam and Shishir Ahmed, accompanied by head coach Mushfiqur Rahman Rigan, will represent Bangladesh in six events of artistic gymnastics. Their goal will be to enrich a lack of international experience and improve personal performance.
“We started the training camp on November 2 and couldn’t focus on all six events due to infrastructural obstacles and lack of preparation time. The target is to put up the best display we can, rectify our previous mistakes and look for new areas to work with to get ready for next year,” said Rigan Sunday.
Shafiqul and Shishir were part of Bangladesh youth gymnasts’ first ever foreign tour where a four-member Bangladesh U-17 squad participated in the Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championship in Indonesia in April this year.
