India, China dominate Int’l Junior Tennis

In the tournament, 32 men’s and as many women’s sides from Bangladesh, China, Germany, India, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, USA and Sri Lanka took part

The 32nd International Junior Tennis Championship had its semifinals at National Tennis Complex Thursday. Like in the second round and the quarter-finals, the semi-finals also had Indian and Chinese players dominating. 

In the men’s singles semi-finals, India’s Ariyan Javeri defeated fellow countryman Udayveer Singh 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to reach the final. And in the second semi-final, India’s Kushan Shah defeated China’s Wenmao Li 6-0, 6-0.

In one of the women’s singles semi-final, China’s Son Ifan defeated compatriot Mi Tianmi 6-4, 6-1 while in the other semi-final China’s Xho Xiaoin defeated India’s Ishita Singh 6-4, 6-2 to set up an all Chinese final.

The battle for the third place will take place Friday morning at 8am at the same venue with the prize ceremony taking place at 3pm. In the tournament, 32 men’s and as many women’s sides from Bangladesh, China, Germany, India, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, USA and Sri Lanka took part.
