The spin-off “Myself Allen Swapan” by director Shihab Shaheen will illuminate screens of users of the online streaming platform Chorki on Eid al-Fitr 2023.
The trailer released on YouTube on April 15, 2023 declares Allen Swapan's return with the sound of a door bell, opening to a shot of Swapan grinning at the camera. With the trailer asking more questions than it answers, the 7-episode series will explore Chittagong's yaba kingpin's journey to becoming the mastermind of the money laundering syndicate.
The parent series “Syndicate”, released on July 10, 2022, quickly saw the character Allen Swapan become an audience favourite. Swapan will be played by acclaimed actor Nasir Uddin Khan. The crime thriller will also feature actress Rafiyath Rashid Mithila as Allen's wife Shayla.
Nasir Uddin revealed that he finds the character intriguing because the viewers find him intriguing: “He's a bad person but the audience is captivated by him. This series will allow his fans to get to know him better.”
The screenplay of Shihab Shaheen and Robiul Alam Robi's story “Myself Allen Swapan” was written by director Shaheen himself. The music for the series was composed by Khayam Sanu Sandhi. Cinematographer Kamrul Islam Shubo shot the show over different locations in Dhaka and Chittagong.
