Srijit reveals plan to make biopic on Shakib al Hasan

Renowned filmmaker Srijit Mukherji and his wife Mithila made a surprise visit to Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium’s press box during the match between hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan where Srijit informed that he has a plan to make a biopic on Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan.

Srijit was in the stadium from the morning and watched the game where Bangladesh were all out for just 87 in their first innings on day five of the match.

Later Bangladesh went to bat again and during the second innings of Bangladesh when Skaib was batting, Srijit made a post on his official page saying “ Shakib - one of the greatest all rounders of our time”.

Later Srijit came to Mirpur Press box with his wife and talked with the media while watching the game.

Shakib scored 33 in the first innings and scored 63 in the second.

Srijit, who recently directed a biopic on Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, told UNB, "Cricket is something so close to my heart. I would really love to make a movie based on the life of Shakib if an opportunity comes along the way in future. He is really a great cricketer. I saw a few wonderful cover drives of him today— those were amazing.”

“I’ve watched cricket at many different venues in India, and in other countries, but in Bangladesh, this is the first time. Bangladesh batted really badly last evening. But they have a good bunch of young cricketers who can do well in future. I really like the way Afif (Hossain) plays. He is courageous and he has a great future ahead,” he added.

The filmmaker is currently visiting his in-laws in Dhaka.
