‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ to open in local theatres on Nov 12
Director Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s second feature “Rehana Maryam Noor” is set to hit local theaters on November 12. It is Bangladesh's official entry for Best International Feature at the 94th Academy Awards.
Earlier, the film was selected for the 74th Cannes Film Festival as the first Bangladeshi and the only South Asian film at this year’s “Un Certain Regard” section.
“Rehana Maryam Noor” was submitted to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on September 12.
After Cannes, the film was invited to Melbourne, Busan and London Film Festivals.
The plot revolves around a private medical college teacher, Rehana, who single-handedly wages a fight for justice on behalf of her 6-year-old daughter and one of her college students.
“Rehana Maryam Noor” boasts an ensemble cast of Azmeri Haque Badhon, Afia Hahin Jaima, Afia tabassum Borno, Kazi Sami Hossain, Yasir Al Haq, Saberi Alam, Abrodit Chowhdury and others.
Rajib Mohajan, Sydul Haque Khandaker, Adnan Habib co-produced the film. Cinematographer Tuhin Tamijul shot the film. Ali Afjal Uzzal and Sayba Talukder completed the production design and the sound design, respectively.
The first trailer for “Rehana Maryam Noor” was unveiled on July 2.
