Winners will be revealed on November 11
The 14th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) unveiled the list of this year's official selections and nominations. Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon was nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in Abdullah Mohammad Saad's second feature "Rehana Maryam Noor."
"Azmeri Haque Badhon is a well-known model and television actress in Bangladesh whose career took off after winning the runner-up prize in a popular beauty pageant. Rehana Maryam Noor is her first major role in a feature film that went on to become the first Bangladeshi film ever to be selected in Official Competition at Cannes.
Formally trained in dental surgery, Badhon is a single mother, living in Dhaka with her 10-year old daughter. She is an advisor to a non-profit organization that works for youth and has been a consistent vocal about women’s empowerment, gender equality and mental illness," read the nomination details from the APSA website.
Badhon is competing for the "Best Actress" accolade alongside Alena YIV, Valentina Romanova Chyskyyray, Leah Purcell, and Essie Davis.
Winners will be revealed on November 11 at the 14th ASPA Ceremony on Australia's Gold Coast.
The ceremony will be streamed live.
