'The Queen's Gambit' star Taylor-Joy is not new to supernatural films, having previously starred in acclaimed horror-thrillers, 'The Witch,' and 'Split'
Edgar Wright is back to the horror genre with his latest spooky thriller, “Last Night in Soho,” starring the wonderful Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role.
"The Queen's Gambit" star Taylor-Joy is not new to supernatural films, having previously starred in acclaimed horror-thrillers, “The Witch,” and “Split.”
Director Wright was particularly impressed with Taylor-Joy’s performance in M Night Shyamalan’s “Split” where she convincingly played a similar character -- “an innocent girl who gets thrown into a situation.”
The cast of “Last Night in Soho” also features Thomasin McKenzie and Matt Smith. Director Edgar Wrigh co-wrote the script with “Penny Dreadful” writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns.
“Edgar Wright’s psychological thriller about a young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences,” reads the official synopsis.
Wright hinted at the film’s plot with his latest tweet, “Haunted by someone else’s past, but we’ll see you in the future.”
The film is slated for release on October 22.
The filmmaker has previous directed cult classics “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “The World’s End” and “Baby Driver.”
