Starring Dave Bautista in the lead role, the zombie heist film follows a group of mercenaries who decide to rob a Las vegas casino amid the zombie outbreak
Zack Snyder, who is credited with the successful adaptation of George A Romero's 1978 film “Dawn of the Dead,” is back to the zombie genre after 17 years with his first Netflix film “Army of the Dead.”
Starring Dave Bautista in the lead role, the film follows a group of mercenaries who decide to rob a Las vegan casino amid a zombie outbreak. The cast also includes Theo Rossi, Tig Notaro, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera and others.
A lot is riding on this film as it is set to pave the path for a new anime series and a prequel film on Netflix.
“We had an amazing experience with [Netflix],” Snyder said. “I’m trying to write them another movie, and I have two animated series I’m doing with them, and I also have a German-language prequel to ‘Army’ that we did. So, we’re really like trying to stay on that franchise, the ‘Army’ franchise.”
“I’m just having a great time shooting these movies right now. So, I don’t know,” the director replied When asked about DC Comics films.“Warner Bros. hasn’t really expressed any interest in making more movies with me, and that’s 100% fine. I understand.”
“Army of the Dead,” featuring both human and non-human feral zombies, will hit the theatres on May 14 ad start streaming on Netflix on May 21.
