Actor Rajiv Kapoor dies at 58

The actor suffered a heart attack at his residence

Bollywood actor Rajiv Kapoor died at 58 on Tuesday. His sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor took to Instagram to confirm the news, sharing a photo of the actor captioned: “RIP.” 

Rajiv Kapoor, also a film producer and director, was the youngest son of actor Raj Kapoor, and the brother of Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor died last year. 

The actor suffered a heart attack at his residence in Chembur. He was rushed to Inlaks Hospital where he was declared dead, reported news agency ANI.

Several celebrities mourned Kapoor’s death.

Sunny Deol tweeted: “Shocked to hear about #RajivKapoor ‘s passing. Deepest condolences to the Kapoor family.” Sanjay Dutt wrote: “Absolutely heartbroken to hear about the demise of Rajiv Kapoor. A soul gone too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the Kapoor family in this difficult time. Om Shanti.”

Born on August 25, 1962, Kapoor made his acting debut with the 1983 film, Ek Jaan Hain Hum. He gained popularity with his father’s last directorial, Ram Teri Ganga Maili in 1985. Some of his notable films include Aasmaan (1984), Lover Boy (1985), Zabardast (1985) and Hum To Chale Pardes (1988). He was last seen in Zimmedaar in 1990.

The actor was set to make a comeback after about three decades with Sanjay Dutt starrer, Toolsidas Junior.
