Hollywood celebrities have expressed shock and outrage at the US Capitol riots that left four people dead, including Air Force veteran Ashli Babbit
At least four people were killed and 52 arrested after pro-Trump rioters had breached the US Capitol building in Washington in hopes of thwarting President-elect Joe Biden's victory.
The chaos in the US Capitol on Wednesday unfolded after President Donald Trump spent weeks whipping up his supporters with false allegations of fraud in the November 3 election, culminating in a call to march to the building that represents US democracy.
The day-long series of events has taken the world by surprise and made a mockery of American democracy. Celebrities were quick to respond in disgust to the violence and madness on display in Capitol Hill.
Hollywood actor-filmmaker Sean Penn tweeted, “Hell hath no fury like a narcissist scorned.” And Chris Evans said, “I am speechless.”

Singer Pink wrote, “As a United States Citizen, and the daughter of two veterans, and the sister of another, I am ashamed of what is happening in Washington. Hypocrisy, shame, Embarrassment. Unpatriotic hypocritical sheep drinking poison Kool aid. This is a sad day for America."
It's all BS. Look now at the face of lawlessness, look at this willful ignorance, remember these people. They are the enemies of democracy. https://t.co/19Xa8PsuQX— Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) January 6, 2021
Mark Ruffalo asked everyone to remember what took place on Wednesday. “It’s all BS. Look now at the face of lawlessness, look at this willful ignorance, remember these people. They are the enemies of democracy.”
It is time for the leaders of this country to invoke the 25th Amendment. Isn’t it obvious? Today has made me sad with disbelief with what is happening in my country, a country that has inspired my songs of hope and love.— Stevie Wonder (@StevieWonder) January 6, 2021
Stevie Wonder wrote, “I am heartbroken and astounded that this narcissistic and dangerous president would put lives in danger and encourage violent sedition against our government. That man is no longer able to serve as President because he can’t accept defeat. Can we afford 2 more weeks? I say NO!”
“The irony is pretty funny,” wrote Cardi B, making a comparison between Black Lives Matter protests and pro-Trump riots. “Weren’t people just wild animals in the summer for demanding justice and now? Let me just watch.”
“Facebook and Twitter giving Trump a little time out is NOT ENOUGH,” wrote Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, who has been time after time critical of social media giants. “Trump instigated an act of domestic terrorism against America.”

She said, “Today is the result of allowing people with hate in their hearts to use platforms that should be used to bring people together and allow people to build community.
“Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Dorsey, Sundar Pichai, Susan Wojcicki - you have failed the American people today, and I hope you're going to fix things moving forward,” she added.
“Watching lawlessness in our capitol — thugs supporting a coup — & deeply saddened,” Director James Mangold called out Fox on Twitter. “The Murdochs have inflicted so much racism, sexism, virulent lies & damage to our nation. Fellow content makers, we must cancel appearances on Fox & use our power to keep ads for our shows off Fox.”
Mob of traitors has stormed the Capitol building—broken through the police and are now inside by the doors of the Senate chambers. Police overwhelmed. One was just hit and carried away. WHERE IS THE NATIONAL GUARD? WHERE ARE THE RUBBER BULLETS? WHY IS THIS MOB NOT BEING ARRESTED?— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 6, 2021
This is a coup against the United States of America, incited by Donald Trump. He should be impeached by the House as soon as possible and convicted and removed by the Senate just as quickly. This is not us, the U.S.— Ken Burns (@KenBurns) January 6, 2021
