Disney Plus paid a special tribute to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman on his 44th birthday, leaving fans of the late actor emotional
Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman would have turned 44 on Sunday, November 30. The actor passed away this year, on August 28, after a long private battle with colon cancer.
To mark the occasion, Disney+ paid special tribute to the late actor by releasing an updated Marvel Cinematic Universe intro ahead of the Black Panther film.
The modified version includes additional footage from the films Boseman starred in as T’Challa such as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther.
The Walt Disney Company Executive Chairman Bob Iger tweeted, “To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts.”
Boseman has been receiving critical acclaim for his 2020 performances in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods and George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The latter stars Boseman as a young, ambitious trumpet player, who wants to make a name for himself.
Netflix’s major awards season contender, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, marks the actor’s final performance.
