The actor has come under the fire for her controversial tweets regarding wearing masks and voter fraud in the US general election
‘The Mandalorian’ star Gina Carano is drawing heavy criticism from fans because of her recent controversial opinions, which include encouraging followers to flout Covid-19 social distancing rules and speculating about voter fraud in the US general election.
She has previously received flak for her alleged transphobia, with fans accusing her of deliberately mocking trans pronouns.
The #FireGinaCarano hashtag is predominantly making the rounds of the internet while #StandWithGinaCarano is slowly picking up steam.
“It’s amazing how the #FireGinaCarano folks, don’t even see that their cancelation campaigns only verify many of the things she’s fighting against,” one fan tweeted. “Bullies. I #StandWithGinaCarano and I’m no conservative.”
Some fans have stood by Gina despite an obvious ideological difference as they perceive the petition to remove her as another example of cancel culture destroying careers through social media trials.
“Now I have to watch @themandalorian with the knowledge that Gina Carano is a Trumpy nut, a transphobe, and an anti masker?” another expressed shock. “Can ya just #FireGinaCarano, Disney?”
The former MMA star made headlines when she announced her decision to move to the new Parler app – home of the Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, Fox host Sean Hannity, Senator Ted Cruz and members of the Trump family.
She has also been slammed by fans for her ‘disparaging’ tweets regarding the recent Black Lives Movement protests.
Disney has yet to comment on the controversy. In 2018, actor Rachel Butera was however removed from Star Wars Resistance after a similar online campaign.
