Bollywood celebrities are distancing themselves from Kangana Ranaut after her controversial PoK comments
Actor Manoj Bajpayee criticized Kanagan Ranaut for comparing Mumbai with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in a recent interview to India Today.
After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in Mumbai, Kangana Ranaut tweeted that she felt unsafe in the city. She said, “Why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistan occupied Kashmir?”
Her comments triggered the wrath of Shiv Sena, who later carried out demolition work at Kangana’s production house through Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), according to reports. She announced her departure from Mumbai shortly after.
With a heavy heart leaving Mumbai, the way I was terrorised all these days constant attacks and abuses hurled at me attempts to break my house after my work place, alert security with lethal weapons around me, must say my analogy about POK was bang on. https://t.co/VXYUNM1UDF— Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) September 14, 2020
Manoj Bajpayee dismissed the Queen star’s comments, saying: “Mumbai is a magical city. There’s magic here. Look at where I come from. Who am I? Where do I come from? People like me have made our villages, our districts, our towns, our friends and families proud. How? Because Mumbai brought magic to our lives.”
The actor added “We were given opportunities. And all of it happened because of Mumbai and the film industry.”
Jaya Bachchan also called out Ranaut for ‘biting the hand that feeds.’ She said in parliament, “People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language.”
Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage, would you say the same thing if Abhieshek complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also 🙏 https://t.co/gazngMu2bA— Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) September 15, 2020
In response, Kangana said, “What is Jaya referring to? All we were offered was a two-minute role, a romantic scene, item numbers and the obligation to sleep with the hero. I taught the industry feminism, made one patriotic film after another, no one is feeding me.”
Actors including Sonam Kapoor, Richa Chaddha and Farhan Akhtar praised Jaya’s comments on Twitter.
