The film Kathbirali, based on his screenplay, was released on January 16 this year
Young Director/Producer Muhammad Tasneemul Hasan's short film Let Sleeping Dogs Lie won the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 41st Session of the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival. It has also been invited to participate in the Golden Fox Award later in January 2021.
The film was previously selected for screening at the Lift-Off Global Network Festival (UK) on Fast Time Filmmaker Sessions.
This black and white short film tells the touching story of a paper seller who makes great sacrifices to migrate to the US. It stars Kallol Kabir, KM Kanak, Mahmud Rimon, Raihan Ishtiaq Sonnet, Nure Alam, and Sakina Islam Ishika.
The crew includes Abdullah Al Fahim as the cinematographer, Humam Zaman as the colourist, Tanvir Hasan Emon as the art director, Wilson as the assistant director and Rajesh Saha as the sound designer.
Last year, Tasneemul completed his bachelors from Independent University, Bangladesh. He created the film as a part of his university graduation film.
Tasneemul has long worked with director Redoan Rony as an assistant director. He then started making commercials and short films. The film Kathbirali, based on his screenplay, was released on January 16 this year in various theatres across the country.
