'Racism Is our pandemic and In 400 Years we’ve yet to find a vaccine'
George Clooney wrote an editorial on the Daily Beast on Tuesday about America's race problem. Calling it "our pandemic," the actor lamented how the US, after 400 years, is "yet to find a vaccine."
"The anger and the frustration we see playing out once again in our streets is just a reminder of how little we’ve grown as a country from our original sin of slavery," read the op-ed published on June 1. "The fact that we aren’t actually buying and selling other human beings anymore is not a badge of honour. We need systemic change in our law enforcement and in our criminal justice system."
Clooney’ and wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, have slammed President Donald Trump’s attacks on the media time and again.
The editorial comes at a time when protests are taking place around the world following the killing of African American George Floyd, 46, in police custody on May 25.
