Bollywood celebs clap, cheer during Janata Curfew amid coronavirus
Bollywood celebrities took part in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Janata Curfew clapping initiative. To pay tribute to all those who are working round the clock to eradicate COVID-19 from India, people went to their balconies and rooftops applauding, and cheering at 5pm on Sunday.
The participating actors included Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, Priyyanka Chopra, Karan Johar, and many more.
Some celebrities took to Twitter before the event to encourage people to join and to announce solidarity. Deepika Padukone wrote: “I pledge to support the #JantaCurfew on Sunday #22ndMarch 7AM-9PM and also join in acknowledging the selfless and untiring efforts of our nation’s medical fraternity at 5PM!”
Several stars posted videos afterwards of themselves observing Janata Curfew.
