The much-awaited 6th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) 2020 finally raised its curtain on Friday at the permanent campus of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). The festival concluded on Saturday with a closing ceremony at Star Cineplex at Shimanto Shambhar.

According to a press release, the event was inaugurated through the welcome speech of Professor Jude William Genilo, head of Media Studies and Journalism department of ULAB.

He thanked everyone who was part of the festival and "made it possible." He also mentioned that film-making through mobile had opened new gates for the art form known as films.

Later, Festival Director  Riaz Uddin shared his experience with the audience and also thanked the team behind DIMFF for making this event possible.

Crests were handed over to the participants of the mobile film-making workshop and best campus ambassadors. Professor H M Jahirul Haque, vice chancellor of ULAB, and Professor Jude William Genilo presented the crests.

Professor H M Jahirul Haque said in his speech: "I congratulate the Media Studies and Journalism Department for continuing this great initiative; to give students a global platform where they can be exhibitors while gaining wider cultural exposure around the world."

This year's jury for DIMFF is chaired by Arifur Rahman. He said in his remarks: "People often do not understand how much they should capture through their mobile phones. It was important for me to see as a judge how much they have used and utilized this privilege - of making films through a mobile phone camera and telling a story."

The journey of DIMFF was begun in 2015 by Cinemascope, a film-based apprenticeship program of ULAB.
