The inauguration ceremony of Amar Bhashar Cholochitro 1426 took place today at the TSC premises of Dhaka University. It was organized by Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS).

The honourable State Minister of Information, Murad Hasan, the Moderator of DUFS Dr AASM Arefin Siddique and the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Film Societies Lailun Nahar Sammi inaugurated the event.

A candle lighting ceremony took place and film screenings officially began.

At the event, Arefin Siddique said: "Organizing Amar Bhashar Cholochitro has become a regular tradition of Dhaka University.”

“It breaks my heart to see today's generation feeling hesitant to use their mother language. We are gradually moving away from our cultural roots. And that simply cannot be."

"This festival is an attempt to uphold the supremacy of our mother language," he added.

Lailun Nahar Sammi said, "These festivals are important because they serve no business interests. Bangla cinema can come back to life only on the strength of these initiatives.”

"I am an architect. But whenever anyone asks me as to what makes me feel fulfilled in my personal life, I tell them that my involvement with the film society movement, going back as far as the '60s, is what fuels my spirits."
