Sadia Khalid Reeti first Bangladeshi film critic at Berlinale Talents

Earlier, Sadia attended the 2019 Cannes Film Festival as a jury member for the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci). She is the first Bangladeshi woman to have earned this honour

Berlinale Talents is a paradise for film professionals. Dhaka Tribune's Showtime Editor Sadia Khalid Reeti will join Berlinale Talents this year as a film critic along with seven other participants from around the world. 

She is the first film critic from Bangladesh to be selected for this highly prestigious program that has been running since 2003. She has been selected from a pool of 3400 applicants from 134 countries.

Berlinale Talents is the annual summit and networking platform of the Berlin International Film Festival, which is one of the "big three" film festivals (Cannes, Berlin and Venice). The 70th edition of this festival will run from February 20 to March 1. And Berlinale Talents will run from February 22-27.

Earlier, Sadia attended the 2019 Cannes Film Festival as a jury member for the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci). She is the first Bangladeshi woman to have earned this honour.

She was also a Fipresci jury for International Film Festival of Kerala 2019 and Dhaka International Film Festival 2018. She served on the jury boards of several other international festivals, namely, Italy’s Religion Today Film Festival, India’s Siliguri International Short and Documentary Film Festival, Nepal’s Human Rights Festival and so on.  

Sadia studied Screenwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and worked in several production companies in Hollywood.
